The DW12 scale model has been logging many miles in the wind tunnel to gain knowledge on the best car setup and drag reduction gains. This information will be used for improving qualifying and race performance.
ARC's model is open for use by all Indycar Teams. Scale model testing offers teams an alternative to higher cost testing methods without losing accuracy. Call us now call at 317-291-8600 or email at sales@arcindy.com to go faster.

The Japanese Society of Automotive Engineers Annual Congress in Yokohama will be attended by ARC on May 20th to May 22nd. ARC will be showcasing ELEMENTS CFD software and Pneumatic Tires for production scale model testing.
With ELEMENTS CFD software suite being used around the world at OEM and aftermarket automotive companies, the JSAE Annual Conference is a great opportunity to continue to demonstrate the capabilities of the software. For more on ELEMENTS visit the ARC website.
To measure the effects of tire deflection or suspension geometry effects on aerodynamics, ARC has developed pneumatic tires for production scale model testing. This in house developed design will be available for review at JSAE. Using pneumatic tires increases the accuracy of scale model testing to find aerodynamic efficiency gains that directly translate to the real world. ARC is proud to offer the most cost effective Pneumatic tires for testing that are available. For more on Pneumatic Tires, visit the ARC website.

Fleet Days is back! It starts with a workshop on Sept 9th for Commercial Fleets only. Then, reoccurring wind tunnel test sessions, where fleets can purchase blocks of wind tunnel test runs, with the first session on Sept 10th. Contact ARC now to get your slot and starting answering some of your questions about fuel economy.
Fleet Days Workshop
The Fleet Days Workshop on Sept 9th is geared and open exclusively to Fleets. Speakers from EPA Smartway and other agencies will be on hand to give fleets a better understanding of the programs meant to increase their fuel economy, part durability and drivetrain efficiency. By having the event for fleets only it becomes a focus on how to increase the usefulness of fuel economy developments during operation. The workshop will also feature a townhall question and answer session for fleets to gain inside knowledge on future direction of the industry.
Fleet Days Wind Tunnel Testing
Fleet Days has returned to its roots as a reoccurring single day wind tunnel test, where fleets can purchase a block of test runs. A single block of test runs buys the customer two vehicle changes. At the end of the full day, each customer will receive the data for the entire test. This is a high value way to get real wind tunnel test data without having to sign up for a full day of testing. Test development runs can vary from testing a new shaped part, to moving various items around on the truck. The Fleet Days Wind Tunnel Testing will be a reoccurring test every few months. Each session will feature a specific OEM tractor and trailer setup. A list of configurations and test dates can be found on our website.
For more information and to sign up for the Sept 9th Fleet Days Workshop and Wind Tunnel test sessions, visit the ARC website.

Is a rolling road tunnel only applicable for underbody testing?
A rolling road has a large effect over the entire vehicle, not just the underbody. In actuality, the largest effects are actually seen down the sides of the vehicle. This is due the wheel wake from the tire and air pressure build-up in the wheel well housing. The car body styling in front and behind the tire opening is critical to aerodynamic efficiency.
As vehicle aerodynamics is known as a "Hyperbolic" problem, what is changed at the rear of the vehicle can affect the front and vice-versa. With a rolling road, the flow field effects the changes on the upper body which in turn will greatly affect fuel economy performance.
Thus, in today's aerodynamic world of small refinements being needed to get an edge over competitors and meet government standards, a rolling road wind tunnel has become a much needed tool.
